SSWAA's National Awareness Campaign to increase an understanding and raise appreciation for the profession of School Social Work while addressing key workforce challenges.
SSWAA is the national organization fully committed to promoting the profession of school social work and empowering school social workers. School social work professionals are critical in fostering safe, supportive, and inclusive school environments and improving student outcomes. SSWAA is aware of workforce issues impacting the profession and aims to address key issues in the Unite to Ignite campaign.
What are the workforce issues?
Role clarity, manageable student ratios, title protection, unique professional training, district support to receive school social work specific professional development, and fair pay are some of the workforce issues that will be addressed in the Unite to Ignite campaign.
Why Does it Matter?
Addressing these challenges is critical for the effectiveness of school social work and for the well-being of students, staff, school communities, and the school social workers themselves.

Ambassadors will participate in activities which may include meeting with administrators or supervisors, talking to school boards, engaging on social media, and talking to press/media outlets. As an ambassador, you’ll have the freedom to engage in ways that fit your interests, strengths, and schedule. Whether you prefer talking with school leadership, sharing on social media, or working behind the scenes, your involvement makes a difference! Ambassadors will receive training and resources to support their role in raising awareness about the profession. More information on training opportunities will be coming soon!
