General Information

SSWAA is a volunteer organization of professional school social workers. We depend on income generated from membership dues to support the work of the organization. If you are a social worker currently working in a school setting, a student, or are working in the area of education and social work, check out the membership categories and please consider joining the School Social Work Association of America as a way of enhancing your professional practice.

Our Mission

The School Social Work Association of America is dedicated to promoting the profession of School Social Work and the professional development of School Social Workers in order to enhance the educational experience of students and their families.

Membership Categories:

AFFILIATE $60.00 (includes retired)
  • A person eligible for Active Membership may become an Affiliate Member if retired or unemployed. Affiliate Members shall have all the rights of Active Members.
ASSOCAITE $120.00
  • A professional person working in an agency which provides services to children. Additional persons, if they perform similar functions to school social work and are authorized within their state to do so, may be Associate Members. Associates do not have voting rights and cannot hold office, but will have all other benefits associated with active membership.
STUDENT $60.00
  • A person enrolled in a college level study of social work, with an interest in school social work. A person with membership under this category shall hold all the rights and privileges of Active Membership, except to hold office.
REGULAR/FULL $120.00
  • A person who meets a state's requirements for the position of school social worker, however that position is titled in a given state, and is actively employed by a public or private school or state education agency.
  • Any person who has an MSW, is employed by a school and is providing school social work services.
  • A person who meets the requirements for the position of school social worker and who is employed as an administrator or supervisor.
  • A university faculty person involved in school social work instruction or supervision.
